Director of Development WVSA, a non-profit arts and education organization (including
its School for Arts in Learning, PCS and its ARTiculate
employment training program), is seeking a Director of
Development. Along with a passion for the arts and education,
ideal candidates should have a desire to work for an
organization that provides unique learning environments
for students
of all abilities but especially for those students with
special talents, special skills and special needs who
learn differently. The incumbent, working in conjunction
with
the President/CEO, will be responsible for meeting the
Development Department’s annual revenue goals through
the formulation and execution of both strategic and tactical
development plans that are oriented to establishing new,
and enhancing or maintaining existing funding sources
in the following areas: - Annual Fund
- Grant Acquisition
- Foundation Gifts/Grants
- Corporate Gifts
- Workplace Giving/10 block radius and more
- Planned Giving
- Special Event Fundraising (gallery /Top of Art, etc) Qualified candidates must be multifaceted professionals who possess comprehensive
development and fundraising experience and who will embrace the prospect of working
within an entrepreneurial Charter School and Arts Non-Profit environment. In
addition to being a leader with visionary qualities, this individual will have
significant responsibility for formulating and implementing development strategies,

for Kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2007-08 school
year. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of classroom
experience, Master’s level and Special Education concentration

Expectations for Teachers and Teaching Assistants:
Academic
Both teachers will lead reading, writing and literature,
math, social studies and science groups utilizing an
arts-infused approach. The teachers must be able to differentiate
instruction
for varying student needs, create and use assessments
to measure student progress, and ensure remediation or
enrichment
for students as needed. SAIL's Literacy curriculum is
the Harcourt Trophies series. The current math curriculum
is
the Saxon Math series and Core Knowledge fuels the social
studies and science curriculum. All teachers are expected
to participate in school-wide committees, faculty meetings
and other school related meetings.
Learning Community
Teachers will collaborate to create a provocative learning
environment that encourages curiosity and a sense of
awe and wonderment. Faculty will meet in grade-level
teams
to plan curriculum, collaborate and celebrate student
growth. The SAIL learning community attends professional
development
and training as a reflective practitioner working toward
improving student achievement.
